Backstory here. I'll let myself out.
Art is how we decorate space, music is how we decorate time ... and with spinning tops, we decorate both.

Everything in the world is strange and marvelous to well-open eyes.

That lower cartoon is a hoot! And it could only have come from the mind of Gary Larson -- best cartoonist ever in my book.

Seems like this is a good time for some positive words in the middle of this pandemic.

There is always the simple "Keep spinning"

Jimmy V. may not have spun many tops but his famous phrase sure works around here and around the world....."Don't give up.  Don't ever give up."

From a classic old hymn about singing, changed for us...."I spin because I'm happy.  I spin because I'm free."  (His eye is on the sparrow and I know He's watching me)
Happiness runs in a circular motion!!!

Watts' Tops

Tops do their own thing--you need to learn what that is so you can play along.

I like that one! Same could be said of kids. And wives.

Not unlike Harry Truman's advice about giving advice to children: Find out what they want to do and advise them to do it.

As far as I can tell, it's the same with adults.

I found this (translated to English) from a Spanish poet, Lorenzo Oliván (1968 - ):

The earth turns and does not fall;
the top spins and does not fall;
the one who spins does not fall.

Thanks for bringing me back to this thread.  It is hard to believe it is 11 years old.  I had a good lunch rereading everything.  Lots of variety from the people on this forum, also!!!

A slight change from the first line in our hymnal - This is my father's whirled.
Happiness runs in a circular motion!!!

Not so sure about that last line. When I spin around too much, it's hard not to fall.
