Spintricks Awards Cap & badges
« on: August 20, 2024, 01:19:34 PM »

Hi spinners!

As some of you may know we, me, Alberto and some others want to renew a little bit the Spintastic's patch system:
An accessible tricks ladder to motivate people to learn Spintop, and on the side create workshops in juggling schools clubs etc...

The plan, for now is to offer (or include in the workshop price): a spintricks printed cap, then, each 3 tricks allows you to collect a pins (badge) to stick on (in the same way patches were collected)
We found a 10 pins system, where each pin's is a SPINTRICKS letter (see below) First part SPIN will be dedicated to easy learning tricks then the TRICKS part go deeper in skills.

Don't hesitate to give your opinion on this!
Too long, too easy, too difficult or any issue you could find...

Here is where i'm actually getting:

S => Spinner
  • Fight throw (over head)
  • Normal throw (front & lateral)
  • Leash ?

P => Précision
  • Plate size target
  • Plate size 2 (with highness of a chair)
  • SkyRocket

I => In hand
  • La pala
  • Control + Hand to hand ?
  • Boomerang

N => ??
  • Merry go round
  • Crazy 8
  • Behind the head ?

T => Tricky Spin ?
  • Helicopter ?
  • Legs ? Football?
  • ?

R => Regenerating tricks
  • Spinning spider
  • Roller coaster
  • Drum beat ?

I => In between arms?
  • Wirewalker
  • Wirewalker 2
  • Suns?

C => Cyclic ?
  • Martillo?
  • Aborigen?
  • Barrel Rolls?

K => Kick Ass ?
  • Whip
  • Wheel of fortune?
  • Orbits?

S => Super Spinner?
  • 1 Min Combo
  • 3 minutes Combo?
  • ?

As you can see a lot of questions still in here!

Great idea! Love it!
I think you should also create a virtual patch for those who get the 10 pins.

Below are my comments and suggestions.

S => Spinner
  • Fight throw (over head throw)
  • Normal throw (front & lateral)
  • Leash  Underhand throw ("leash" sounds like the "walk the dog" trick).

P => Precision
  • 25 cm target
  • 10 cm  target at the height of a chair
  • Sky Rocket

I => In hand
  • Big Scoop
  • Hand to hand passing (5X)
  • Boomerang

N => Nutationless
  • Merry go round
  • Crazy 8 Pole dancing
  • Behind the head Blizzard

T => Tricky
  • Helicopter ? Corkscrew
  • Legs ? Football? Hacky Top/Football x2 before returning to hand
  • Rock the Baby x3

R => Regeneration
  • Spinning spider
  • Roller coaster
  • Drumbeats Joker Choker

I => In between arms
  • Wirewalker
  • Short Circuit
  • Suns Gyroscopic Flop

C => Cyclic
  • Martillo x5
  • Aborigen? Half-orbits (over throwing arm x5)
  • Barrel Rolls x5

K => Kick Ass
  • Whip
  • Wheel of fortune x5
  • Orbits Aborigen x3

S => Super Spinner
  • 1 Min Combo Pirouette
  • 3 different whips combo
  • 3 minutes 90 seconds Combo

Hi and thanks for your support Ta0!

Underhand throw is trapeze? (in fact I was thinking walk the dog yes, seems easier for a first pins?)
Not sure about what is half orbit?
Love your Super Spinner proposal.
Not so fan of rock the baby, but why not...

Oh, if you were thinking of Walk the Dog, that is fine.
No, not trapeze. I thought that you meant the horizontal tip-down throw close to the ground.

Half-orbits is the first trick on Adrian's patch. But you can initiate it directly from the hand (or from the string): you don't need to do the wire walker. He called it on his video Manivela (Crank).

@Ta0: I don't understand what mean nutation less?
I was looking for a word starting with N and nutation is one of the fundamental movements of a top. However, with our tops we generally don't see nutation but only precession. On the other hand, in aerospace they call nutation what we call precession, so I won't complain if instead of Nutationless you call it just Nutation. You could also call it Not Dizzy  ;D
By the way, "highness of a chair" is strictly correct but nobody would say it. Instead use "height of a chair". In English: Precision not Précision

You have the SkyRocket trick is two times. You could replace one with the Big Scoop.

To me Merry go Round and Crazy 8 are too similar. That's why I proposed Pole Dancing.

Thanks Ta0!

Just updated the list.

The nutation thing is a very good point! Keeping it until something else is proposed... (I guess is quite complicated joke... :-X)

I was trying to find a video of the “pole dancing” trick. I shouldn’t have googled that ….

I was trying to find a video of the “pole dancing” trick.
In Mexico it's called Los Voladores de Papantla (The Flyers for Papantla). It's an easy and showy trick:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0uC6ymPw58

You can also invert it after it's twisted, lifting the non-throwing hand over the dominant hand and letting the string untwist reversing the trick. That's what I always do.

I shouldn’t have googled that ….
The other name they used in Mexico is "Teibolera", what comes from the English word "table" and refers to "exotic dancers" (table dancers)  >:D We learned the trick from Mexico. So I proposed Pole Dancer and Neff seconded me.

When website will be achieve, I will create a copy in each needed languages, like ecole.spintricks.org, scuola.spintricks.org, escuela.spintricks.org etc... These will need to be translated of course, making it more accessible to young and not english speaker people.
