Congratulations to the winners.
Thanks to everybody who participated: it's not easy to make a routine and takes courage to put yourself out there.
Also, big thanks to all the judges for taking time to score such a competitive group of routines. The level was fantastic!

We had more than 30 people joining the live award ceremony on zoom, from the US, Mexico, Colombia, France, Spain, Italy, Japan and even China!

The Open Freestyle winner videos.

Perfect routine by Yahir. What strikes me the most is how smooth and fluid is his play. He makes the very difficult look easy.
He risks a 3 minute routine without errors by finishing it with a whip around the neck.

Perfect but short (2 minute) routine by Jun. High-intensity koma regen play with an abundance of whips.
Great punctuation with the music.

Takumi has a super technical routine with original moves. A mix of Kanta and Jun styles of play.

First 3 places in Traditional

Yahir sent a second perfect 3 minute routine. He is flexing it!
Is that a top from Rocco?

An excellent routine without errors from Xisco. Heavy baldufas and a stone wall give it a strong traditional look.
I think this is the first time I see top stacking on a freestyle.

High intensity routine by 12 years old Teo. He gave it all, playing wooden peg tops as it they were high performance hollow tops.
A Quentin whip in the middle.

The Youth division was mind-blowing. I suffer from cognitive dissonance when I check their ages against their freestyles.
The future of the sport is going to be spectacular.

First place was 11 years old Alejandro Carbajal. He only registered for the Youth division but he would have finished among the first five in open if he had entered that one. It was a complete surprise for me when I saw his routine. His control reminds me of Yahir.

Second place was 9 years old Kazuha. If Alejandro is the future Yahir, Kazuha is the future Kanta.

Third place was 10 years old Braham. Always blowing my mind. The future Gus.

Some freestyles not to be missed:

Quentin's old-school bearing play, plus some tricks I think I have not seen before in a competition freestyle (like the inner finger grind) got him 4th place.
He's a consummate showman and always in sync with the music.

Kai is just 9 years old and was 7th in Open. Super clean routine with some dance moves. Remember his name (future Jun?).

Ian's routine really starts after the first minute when he goes into a great 2-minute ran. He could challenge Marcus at nationals (although as a yo-yo player from California I doubt he can do both Cleveland and Miamisburg).
