Drawing with a spinning top

Hello folks,
Made a spin top out of bottle caps and... A pencil for the tip!
But it works (kinda). I also have thought to use an old spin top, add some paint to the tip, and let it spin on a paper covered surface  :D. Have not tried it yet.

The neighborhood kids love it! I'm surprised the video got that much views already!

I see the pencil give a light line, have you tried different hardness pencils?  What about crayons, pens or markers?  Here's my top that paints:

I only used pencils that would end in the trashcan. Thanks for the tip! Next time I try markers!
