100 top challenge

Today is the 50th day of the new year.  Since 2024 started I have tried to spin 100 tops each day out in the hall of fame.  I have generally been able to do that (a couple times I missed and had to spin double the next day).  So, this marks the day I have spun 5,000 tops.  It has been a good challenge and it forces me to go out and spend some regular time in the hall, even in the cold weather.  If I can keep it up I will have spun over 30,000 tops at the end of the year.

Bravo! Are these mostly finger tops? (Seems like they'd have to be in the interest of time.)

I would call it the 30,000 top challenge as that is what you are going for. You always go for extreme challenges and age is not slowing you down!

What I am really going for are ways to enjoy Don Olney's collection.  Trying to visit it on a daily basis only seemed to work for a while.  Going out for longer periods of time when the weather was not too hot or cold left me missing out on a lot of good spinning.  This seems to add a little bit more fun into it and is pushing me to knock the dust off of rarely spun finger tops (it is cold out there so I have been moving as quick as possible right now-more peg tops later).  When people come for a visit during the whirled fest I will invite them to join in the 100 top club.

Speaking of 100 tops, I had a local company order 100 with the printed words "Miamisburg is tops."  They just arrived and I spun all of them one night.  I plan to give them out and talk about our festival.

Ha ha!!!  They are not great for spinning challenges.  I don't know if I ever even had many more than ten spinning at the same time.  Some of them are quite off balance.  The recent good news is I told my grand boys there is a 10 top challenge going on in the garage and they responded by doing more than walking by the assortment of tops.  Next time they come over I will tell them there is a twenty top challenge!!!

My grandsons were here recently and completed the 20 top challenge.  The youngest one said "what is next, a thirty top challenge?"  How did he know?

Today is the 100th day of 2024.  I have been able to stay on my 100 tops a night challenge so today marks my 10,000th top spun this year.  I also started my "Miamisburg is Tops" campaign and took one of my little spinners to the mayor.  She gave it a spin and thanked me as she placed it on her desk.  She also reported that the new park by the river will have a big ribbon cutting on May 10th at 6pm.  They want to have a thousand people there to all cut the ribbon together.  Looks like everything is on track for the 25th Whirled Top Fest!!!

Wow! You are on track of reaching 36,600 + tops this year! 
I wonder how much the "plus" would be: other tops you spin besides those 100 tops. Any guess?
I'm guessing you will be above 37,000 when all is done (being a leap year helped a little).

I see I am a bit late to celebrate the 150th day of the year.  On May 29th I spun my 15,000th top.  It has been fun and it is a good challenge.  Next up.......20K.

July 19th is the 200th day of the year.  I am still on track with my 100 top challenge so that means I have spun 20,000 tops.  With my recent travels I have spun hundreds of tops at the IJA fest in Green Bay, in the Hyatt Hotel there and (best of all) in the Top Museum with Judith Schulz.  Next up.....25,000!!!

Today is August 18th and it is the 230th day of the year.  I am happy to report that I am still on track.  In fact, I figured this out quite some time ago, if I averaged 106 per day I would hit 25,000 on our quarter century of whirled top fests.  That is Saturday and I am excited about 25k on the 25th anniversary.  I have added a number of spinning areas in the hall of fame and am inviting everyone this weekend to enjoy the 100 top challenge with me.  Lots of tops are out and ready to go!!!

Because of work and some sickness, I am behind on my reporting about the festival and this 100 top challenge.  I can report, with a smile, that I spun my 25,000th top on the Saturday night of the fest with a nice group of top enthusiasts around me.  It felt good to do this in such fine company.  I am still keeping this activity going and figured if I stay at this pace by the end of the year I will have spun 38,000 some tops.  That seems like such a lame number so I am going to increase my daily spinning so I can try to hit 40,000.  We will see how that works!!!
