Luati Roma Teetotum
« on: March 05, 2023, 12:40:48 PM »

Gianni asked me to post this on the forum:

"Hi all, small question.
In rearranging my tops I came across this top (Put & take) that i bought in Israel.
At the time I had given a probable Italian origin, now I'm intrigued and would like to learn more,
who better than a top forum?
We need to foucs above all the workding LUATI 1 and 2, what does it mean? I didn't find anything other than "you make the decision" that would go along with the game.
Then it says LUATI ROMA (the capital?), then "DATI 1 DATI 2 and DATI TOTI).
If you want to have fun let me know"

Gianni, I think I have an answer.
Google translate identifies the language as Romanian:

dati = give
dati toti = give all
luati = take

So, the classical game: put 1, put 2, everybody puts and take all
The use of Roma instead of toti, may be a reference of taking the city of Rome (and all the Empire treasures) or most likely a reference to the Romanian people.
