While you are at practicing for that, please try to throw the two tops simultaneously as Rocco is showing us in this great video video.
Of course you can't throw the strings away as he does, but I am confident that you can find a way of getting those strings where you need them for the crazy 8's.

Well, after a lot of procrastinating I finally got this recorded! It's pretty sloppy but I did it.

Ortwin, I'm sorry I wasn't able to perfect a double boomerang in time to upload the video .... 
I hope in the future I'll be able to upload a decent video of it; I actually figured out a good way to do it  (I've been too busy  )

Good that you posted it because I would have had to post mine if not. I think I have the same problem as you have: the merry-go-rounds/crazy eights with the left hand don't look nice compared with the right hand. I need more practice.
