This is footage taken in 1911 in New York city, remastered and with sound added. Maybe it's my imagination and my obsession with tops, but at 1:35 I have the impression that the kids have tops in their hands:

There is at least one more thing "top" related in the footage.

Not tops, but three girls with diabolos at the very end:

Oui du diabolo !
Les filles sont habillées comme sur les cartes postales chromo de l époque

Kinda makes you want a big hat with flowers.
Art is how we decorate space, music is how we decorate time ... and with spinning tops, we decorate both.

Everything in the world is strange and marvelous to well-open eyes.

Starting at 3:30 you can see that skill toys have a long tradition in Japan.

I think there might be a top in this short footage (colorized and probably restored with AI) from a playground that appears to be from the early 1900s (perhaps late 1800s?). I found it by chance on X (ex-Twitter) without any background information.

I noticed the string on a first viewing and reviewing it I concluded that the boy behind the boxers has a top that he might have dropped on the ground at the end. What do you think?
If somebody finds the footage again with credits or more information, please share it.

PS: I might need to move this thread to Top Related.
