there's also the in between cone part...

and unless you're ready to make that a bearing tip, I'm good as is, playing with this until it breaks will let me know how far i can push it, and eventually how well it glues back together.... oooh new idea: i can make the cores of the tips of my larger tops with epoxy putty and just glue-wrap string around it.
