If there are enough women competitors (10?), I'm in favor. Although spintops is something in which women could compete in equal terms with men, it could be a good way to promote their participation until there are enough of them.

PS: But if the Earl decides to follow the example of his youth decathlon hero (Jenner), we may need to reconsider this . . .   :P :P :P

Oh, wow.  It is still hard for me to talk about the Jenner story.  But I have always been an advocate about highlighting the women.  Of course, Val has been the best female player in the world for some time.  That gal from Colombia was fabulous with traditional tops from her country.  Who else?  One female competed in worlds in Europe.  Yes, try to get a number of women for a contest.  It would be a first in top history!!!

I'm not aware of any demonstration by women against women sport divisions, on the contrary, so I don't think spintops would be an exception.
Critically, women would be able to also enter the men open division. That's what Betty Gallegos has been doing at the yo-yo world contest (won the women's division and I believe got to semifinals on open 1A).

Would men, then, be allowed to compete in the women's division?  I would guess not.  The idea of a women's division, in a competition that favors neither men nor women, seems sexist to me.  I would expect women to be insulted, as the implication is that a woman can't be expected to compete successfully against men with a spin top.

Just my opinion.  Yours may vary....

I agree with that. Just encourage women to enter the contest.

My opinion on this is that some women may be a bit intimidated to compete against all the men who compete, and having a separate division might encourage more women to compete.

It sure would be nice to have some opinions of actual women on this!  ::) ::)

Yes!  Let's figure out how to get more women involved.  If a women's division would encourage more females then I am all for it!!!

Thanx for your inputs

I think its better to stay with a one and only world title
We can still have spécial awards for women youngest player , best reptilian, and so on

The Reptilians asked me to tell you that the prospect of a special award was all they needed to hear. They're in!

From Colombia they are also asking for a women's division. They have had one for many years.

the Earl of Whirl

Is it true that they have had a women's division for a number of years?  How have I missed that?  Are there any results or videos of that and the men's division?
