Help with this Koma Top
« on: August 02, 2020, 02:41:56 PM »

I recently bought this Japanese Fighting Top and have struggled to get it to spin. I'd say this is perhaps the heaviest top I've had. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears.

Did it came with a string? You need a really thick one! More like a cord.

Interesting! A mechanical explanation for us non-throwers, please.

It did, but the fibers were compromised and it's no longer strong. It looked like it had been baked in the sun.

I just used it and it works. But it won't last for long.

The thicker string will make a for a more stable wrap under the larger forces of a heavier top.
You can throw it with regular string, but it has to be a more careful and soft throw.
