Sports division questions for world spin top contest
« on: July 31, 2020, 10:06:41 AM »

Hey everyone, I'm planning on entering for the sports division for The World Spin Top Contest, but since I'm new, I have a few questions about some of the rules.

1. In the rules, it says that any top can be used interchangeably. Does the shape have to be specific, or the tip? (The size I'm guessing can be any)

2. For the target shots, does the throw have to be the sidearm "spinner"? or can it be an overhand method or a "submarine" method?

3. Does the "trapeze mount" have to be a certain grip? For example:

Or this one, which uses the American grip (thumb on the tip, fingers on the crown)

And does the top have to be caught with the tip facing yourself, or facing away from you? Or does it not matter?
Split that top!

Hey Texture! You were the first one to register for Worlds! You actually tried the online form when I was still testing it and before the official announcement!  ;D
So, congratulations, competitor #001!  8) I'm competitor #002 myself!  :P
You are 13 years old. If we have enough younger people competing I think we should have age group divisions.

To your questions:
1. You can use any string thrown top (no target with a finger top!  ::) ), except for some tricks that specifically ask for a fixed tip.
2. Any style of throw is accepted.
3. You can use any grip for the trapeze and you can land it pointing in any direction.
