Hi all
I like Turegano format
For sports ladder
Jim
I think Turegano's format for the ladder would make it more interesting for the audience. But it would require a complete re-write of the rules and it's too late for that. They have been approved by the board, published on the site and translated to Spanish and Japanese. Unfortunately, I didn't get much feedback when I put a draft on the forum. Maybe we can try them at another time. I have been thinking in tinkering with the list of tricks, but that's a minor change.

Actually, I was talking about doing stuff left handed in the sports ladder so Texture and Beth would have more in their category.  I am definitely not competing.  I will do it in a leisurely way and only for fun.
I expect quite a few more participants on the ladder, but some will procrastinate until close to the deadline. Anyways, we definitely want to see The Earl at worlds!  :)

In case you want a logo with a black background (which is usually the case for the yo-yo contest):

Ouupps, just realized that I'm 006 participant instead of 007, it makes my freestyle idea useless...  :-\
Any possibility to find back my 007 number?

Ha!  ;D
The registration number is per player, irrespective of division. That's the reason of the difference.
But I can put you as number 7 on the Open freestyle list, no problem. Done!

We have a large block of Japanese players already registered. I know the Latin American players are prone to procrastinate and will eventually register. But what about US players?  :-\

By the way, Gerardo told me he will not participate  :( , but Salvador is planing to compete  :) Gus is undecided.

Cuper, plus his son and nephew, will compete for sure. They are very busy right now promoting tops (surprising for me in the middle of the pandemic but great!)

I'm a little worried about the large number of Chonkakegoma players (from the Chonkakegoma club) who have registered. They are 15 or 16 out of the 21 Japanese players registered. This has the potential of heavily skewing the results (they could in fact, determine them). I'm thinking that we may need to adjust the rules. Perhaps we should make the 8 suggested finalists (per division), true finalists after all.

ok. how can I register myself?
I reviewed these pages and I couldn´t see any option.
What is exactly the difference between Open freestyle and traditional free style?
If it is necessary only my approval, ok, you´ve got my "yes". Please Register me.
Greetings.

Registration:

For traditional freestyle: "A traditional top should be used, defined as one with the body made of solid wood (not hollowed) and that has a fixed tip made of metal. Some other variations that are traditional, such as a metal weight ring for komas, are acceptable. The competitors should send pictures of their traditional tops for approval by the Review Panel. Modifications of the shape of the tip are allowed."

I think you will be one of the favorites to win, Salvador/Huitzi/Ketzaltlipoka  :)

I have been thinking what background to use to record my freestyle. I finally decided on a "pro" setup that I will be able to use for future videos.  I'm sharing it in case somebody else wants to use the same setup.
I got a 8x10 feet telescopic backdrop stand for $40 (best offer) from Ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/184374799617
And I got these curtains for it: Oslo Theater Grade Extreme Blackout - Sun Zero. They are very nice and completely opaque. One side has the color of your choosing but the back is black, which I'll probably use for the backdrop. Surprisingly, the price changes a lot depending on the color of the front ($16 to $29, for the 8 ft tall). You'll need 2 or 3 panels. I got the 9 feet tall but the 8 feet would work.

I think that even if you don't think you can make the (virtual) podium, this is a great opportunity to have a clean freestyle in an official world contest that you can show when people are curious about your hobby.
