There once was a movie called A Christmas Story. Then, a sequel came called My Summer Story. It was about a kid who's goal is to knock a bully's top out of a circle in a top game. This is the battle that they have. These tops are in a spinning top museum in Burlington Wisconsin US.

Welcome to the forum, Texture!

Great movie (although it was a flop in the theaters)!

The link Jim gave is a thread about the Top Lady, who was the spinning top consultant to the movie.
Here is a thread where we discussed the short story on which the movie was based:

The tops in "My Summer Story" are quite interesting.  They are much bigger than the typical tops used in the playgrounds and they are not packed away in some Hollywood movie lot building.  It turns out that they were designed by Judith, the top lady.  And they were made in Burlington, Wisconsin.  Her idea was to have them bigger so they would be more visible on screen.  Since she designed them and had them made she was able to keep them after the movie and display them at her museum.  Sadly, though, because of the water problem in the Top Museum all her tops are boxed up and when I was up there I was not able to see them.  Rats.

A likely story Earl. We all know the real reason you couldn't see Wolf and Mariah in person is because they're both still doing battle down in the sewers...

Haha, I love that film. "Evil Mariah". But Charles & Ray Eames "Tops" is my favorite of all. I heard about the the Top Expert and those custom tops in Wisconsin. I always wanted to go, but can't for obvious reasons. :(

It has now been over a year since I have been there.  I am trying to keep track of when all the tops are out of boxes and back on display.  They were put away due to water damage to the building and they were working on getting a grant to help them fix the problems.  When the tops are out again I would love to make another visit up there.

Aw man, that's a shame. Hopefully they can get right on it given that there are not that many Spinning Top Museums that I can think of other than that one. We need to keep the tradition alive.

I didn't. :D It's kind of too bad that I can't go and visit it right now. Dumb virus, it's all your fault. :( But thanks anyway. I'll make a note of it.

Hmmm, you might just be onto something there. Wonder if we've really given insulting the virus a proper try? You know, yo mama stuff. Making fun of its small protein spikes. And have you seen that outer coat it wears?? So tacky.

Everyone the world over. Every day.

I mean, it's not like we have anything better to throw at it. And giving out daily tongue-lashings is something I think we could all unite around. >:D

Great! We'll start tomorrow. Sorry, can't repeat my insults here. Just remember, we want to drive it crazy and make it stick.

I don't remember where I read it, but apparently, the actor who played Lug Ditka had trouble throwing the top  because he was left-handed.
