Typical spintoy display
« on: October 16, 2019, 06:53:40 PM »

A typical display of my LEGO spintoys at last weekend's hobby show in Denver...

https://youtu.be/uCaRtahadQc

For safety and other reasons, I usually have visitors point to spintoys for me to demo. The optically active color-mixing, B&W stroboscopic, and blacklight tops entering at 2:02 generally get the most oohs and ahhs.

Other mechanical LEGO gizmos on display include a train-driven orrery (here missing its central star), a self-folding pneumatic cube, and several remote control vehicles. Of these, the cube and the fully functional RC excavator are perennial crowd-pleasers. The always-moving cube and orrery serve as eye-catchers.

Many of the items here appear in more detail in other videos on this channel.

Typical? :o That's a lot of table space you got there? Are you getting it for free as you are not a vendor?

In addition to the tops, you have some serious LEGO constructions there!

Yes and thanks!

DENLUG (the DENVER LEGO user group I belong to) is usually invited to display at regional events like this -- some commercial, and some put on by local governents, schools, etc. We do it free in exchange for free space and amenities like tables, chairs, power, and sometimes beer.

I like to design and build working LEGO gizmos of all kinds. The science and engineering one can dabble in with LEGO goes way beyond spintoys.

Good to know my evil scheme's working. One day, Greenwood Village, Colorado will be the spintoy capital of the Universe! Don't try to stop me. >:D

Pretty impressive.

My thought is that we should have more places trying to be the top capital of the US/world/universe!!!
