On the video above, all 10 strikers hit the targets and continue spinning, not a single miss. In addition, it seems to me that on the spin duration, the striking tops would have an advantage as they are spun later and are not driven into the ground by a top from above. So I am not sure how this is scored.
I’ve been trying my best to get a better understanding of the Rules for an” Official” Gasing Match from the folks on Lombok Island. This is not an easy task by any means!
Thus far, here is what I have:
A Team consists of 10 persons in an Official Match.
A match is 45 minutes long.
Every player throws the target gasing and the striking gasing once.
Score 1 point if the TARGET gasing is hit by the Striking gasing in the body (only the wood part). The point does not count if it hits the Metal Ring.
If both the Target gasing AND Striking gasing continue to spin after the hit then, whichever gasing continues to spin the longest is awarded a point.
After each player completes their turns, any remaining time (of the 45 minutes) will be used by the highest scoring team to earn extra points.
The team with the highest score, in 45 minutes, wins.
Notice that most target tops are moved with the rope to another location, likely to free the tip from the hole they dug on hitting the ground.
Yes, that is the reason.
Totally opaque to me, too. They don't even look like they're having fun.
They play for money.
Jeremy, perhaps that’s why they’re not smiling while they play.
