Thanks for the videos and the kind words! Somehow, I managed to leave the festival with no photos or videos of my tables once they were ready for visitors.
4-Cyril's laugh of delight is heard
Getting those giggles out of a guy who knows as much about tops as Cyril really made my day.
The blacklight tops are prime examples of the trippy side of LEGO they didn't want you to know about. They're reliable crowd-pleasers but much better in person than in video. As Jim mentioned, the black box "theater" Ludo and Sham came up with was perfect!
To approximate what one sees in person, you have to darken the shot a lot to avoid blowing out the colors while reducing shutter speed (not the same as frame rate) to minimize frame-rate (stroboscopic) and rolling shutter effects. Some DSLRs and phone cameras with "pro" modes allow this.
