lego tops in Marines
« on: February 12, 2019, 05:15:44 AM »

hi all

i open a new thread because the other one has already 5 pages
it's a complementary report on Marines festival focused on jeremy's spacey displays
the little black box that Sham had brought worked very well:the glowing effects showed clearly,
and the audience was very receptive to J's explanations

edited video with cyril's photos and custom zoundtrack

unedited videos from cyril's phone

display stand

black light "glowing méduse"

blacklight top with adjustable wings

have fun watching

This is so cool. I'd have loved to be there... especially that's it's a french festival too ( my mother tongue is french! )

Nice lego tops!

Thanks for the report.  I haven't been able to see the videos yet.  That is my project for today (my day off).  I look forward to seeing them and getting some more legos!!!

Thanks for the videos and the kind words! Somehow, I managed to leave the festival with no photos or videos of my tables once they were ready for visitors.

4-Cyril's laugh of delight is heard

Getting those giggles out of a guy who knows as much about tops as Cyril really made my day.

The blacklight tops are prime examples of the trippy side of LEGO they didn't want you to know about. They're reliable crowd-pleasers but much better in person than in video. As Jim mentioned, the black box "theater" Ludo and Sham came up with was perfect!

To approximate what one sees in person, you have to darken the shot a lot to avoid blowing out the colors while reducing shutter speed (not the same as frame rate) to minimize frame-rate (stroboscopic) and rolling shutter effects. Some DSLRs and phone cameras with "pro" modes allow this.

Folding blacklight top in last video comes in at 4:35 ...

Some other blacklight tops I showed at Marines...

have fun watching

Still fun to watch a year later, my friend. Thanks again for posting these videos. That first soundtrack is so cool.

A LEGO-related magazine is writing up my LEGO user group, http://www.denlug.net . They want images of my Marines,2019 display. Having none myself, I sent them your video links.
