I'm not sure if I should be surprised that Jeremy brought sandals to snowy Marines.
I see in the forecast for Marines for this week a lot of snow spinning!

It's going to take more than a few inches of snow to get a Coloradan out of wool socks and sandals. Comfy!

Found on youtube a video of Emma(nuel) doing a presentation to school children. You can see Attila pacing on the right, probably ready to do a demonstration.

Looks like early in the morning, with few of the players at the venue.

I just whant to thank everyone at Marines Festival such a warm wellcoming, I enjoyed every minute of it!!

The venue was amazin all those tops from all over the world.. the top games, the decoration (God I love the flags soooo much)...the workshops for the kids (and the great demos at the end)... the 3D printed working all 24h nonstop (super cool designs!)... The greatness of Boyacá (es para vivirla)...  the battles at nigth... the endless posibilities of lego tops... the live music...

I had the chance to learn so many things... Tainwan top target trowing, the basics of regeneration, ABC of Chocakegoma, Rope making, Basics of 4A yoyo, wirewalker with nylon...

Thanks Mermouy, Emanuel, Ludo and families for the food the venue decoration... for taking care of me so well!!

To all all the people attending the festival, you are great players and better people. It was great sharing a couple of days with you!!!

Marines 2019 spintop festival.. it was way better that anything I could have dreamt of!!

I would like to follow Pepe and also say a huge thanks to everyone at the
festival for the very warm welcoming i received! it was such a great festival
with really great people, I am so happy I came for the first, but surely not the
last time. next time i should rather come the whole week though :)

i learned a lot, like boomeranging big tops, throwing japanese and colombian
tops and so much more. but whats even nicer is that I met a lot of very nice
people and i am already looking forward to seeing you all again soon!

Cheers,
Christoph

Festival brought many gratifying responses to my tops, and better yet, many new friends from Europe and the Americas. Much to its credit, this forum beings together a welcoming and vibrant community of spintoy enthusiasts of all kinds.

Many thanks to Ludo and his wife and daughters for taking such good care of us -- and for their willingness to translate whenever I needed it. He's lucky to have such a wonderful family. I left them all some tops.

Back to Paris tomorrow with Jim, whose endless help and fun company I'll always remember fondly. Then off to see Cyril and his collection on Tuesday. Can't wait!

I sounds like another great festival! Yes, Ludo's family is top notch!

I'm very glad that this forum has helped the community come together. I'm also happy that this year ITSA could directly support the festival.

I'm sorry I missed seeing and meeting you, guys. I hope to make it next year to Marines+Loon.
Now I want to see lots of photos and video  ;)

I took lots of video . It will take some time but I plan to put something together.
It is tough to write to much on the phone but I also would like to say thanks to Ludo and everyone at the event that made me feel at home. Right away I was made to feel like an old friend.
The support for my tops was amazing so thanks to my patrons.  Watching people using one of my tops and figuring out a new trick made me feel like I am on the right path.
I am sure I will misspell people's names.

Ludo, karin, Leela, Sara, Sham, Damien, Quentin, Christoph, Pepe, Wilson, Murmouy, Emanuel,Atilla,Jeremy, Jim and Chrstian are names that come to mind. THANKS!

Jose is being modest. Everyone played his tops -- seemingly whenever they could get their hands on one. The air was always full of Relampagos!

I see a couple of platforms (one very tall) for Taiwanese target shooting: very nice!
These are what I called stands in a previous message... They worked pretty well but still need some work like add some protections to avoid damages on tops (mostly made of metal except the platform itself witch is surrounded by some flexible tube)
Looks like early in the morning, with few of the players at the venue.
Hell yeah!

I didin't took so much pics or videos as my phone was used as an access point during the festival, but here are some small video clips from here and there:

José targeting platform in the taïwanese style just after Ludo's miss...

Quentin explaining/demonstrating yoyos in front of the running printers...

Attila impressing children with his nice body corkscrew:

Even Pepe, coming for the first time was demonstrating some diabolo tricks!

Wilson demonstrating the spintop trick called "yoyo"

Quentin, our yoyo champion, always trying new things...

Thanks for the videos. It's great to have so many skill sets in the same place, exchanging ideas and inspiration.

Those who are going to visit Cyril tomorrow are in for an awesome experience.

howdie folks !
today we visited Cyril and his wonderful collection
we had a great time going through the various displays
many photos and vdo's done: the highlight happened at the end
of the afternoon, when we looked at one of jeremy's "optical" lego tops
(the one with a special black and white pattern)
through a 19th century ancestor of a stromboscope
used to see animated images
there was also this incredible top in which the optical effect is electricaly powered by a bottle
containing a mix of acids to create an electrolyse !

much much fun with cyril who truly is a mix of a gentleman and a child
later we had a pastry time with homemade apple pie , lemon pie ,strawberry cake/mousse and génoise
cyril's wife belongs to the "cordon bleu" trend :-)for that matter
we couldn't go without jose doing a relampago-top routine and now he has left a top in cyril's display

all in all , despite the fact that we missed Wilson at the meeting point,
it was worth the drive : on the way back , in the middle of traffic congestion,
we suddenly heard the "toupie-tambour" number by Didier and hadouk trio
no wonder , it happened to be ready in my cd payer just in case  ;)

tomorrow , hanging around in paris , goodbye-farewell dinner plannned with Jose and Jeremy

last question i heard in the car: who is going to be the next special guest in marines ?
the answer is still spinning in the air .....
and it needs mermouille , emmanuel , ludo and I to recover a bit before we agreed on new adventures
and ink it

à piu tardè
