Giant spinning ice disk

OK, OK, it's not exactly a top 'cause it can't fall over. But it does fall under the "Latest Spin" category...

Sorry, but it's Not SpinTop Related.  ::)

I think I recall a show on the weather channel where they showed a river covered with smaller (2 meter wide?) ice disks. Put a disk on a current of water and it is bound to rotate a bit.

No worries -- I knew it wouldn't stay in Latest Spin long.

For me, the cool part is that the disk and the various flows that shape and drive it had to coevolve over time. No simple causality, but a network of feedbacks instead. That's the way it usually goes with pattern formation in nature.
