Best tops for playing over concrete?
« on: December 16, 2018, 01:47:27 AM »

I usually play over carpet or grass, but it's the rainy season and I'm driving my girlfriend nuts when I throw inside.  I have a few places with concrete that are covered, but the concrete destroys the plastic tips on my short circuits and I don't like to risk the tips on my QSH.

What are the best tops for beating up over concrete? I imagine it's likely plastic tops with metal tips on the cheaper end, but I'm curious what the fellow concrete jungle throwers like to use.

Any spec on that carpet? Sounds like a good idea.

On the beater top topic, I've used successfully a spintastic hornet over asphalt! The steel spintastic tip is strong enough for that, that being said, brass isn't!

The other thing I've done with success is resurface a beaten tip with a drill and a file!

Ahh and the last thing, if you want more tip, just email Dale, he sells them for very cheap!

Cheers and happy spinning
Pax

PS my wife is also annoyed by my top spinning habit! 😎

My beater top right now is a Cometa King Turbo.  I've taped the widest section, where the crown and body meet, to give it longer life.  That keeps it from flying apart on a hard impact, and the tape takes most of the scrapes.  When the tape gets too chewed up, you just replace it.

If you went with a cheap throw rug from Home Depot or Target or the like, how big would it have to be to catch all the impacts?
