Hello, I'm Tim, new here.

I am having issues with my Siren King I inherited  from an aunt, and would like to see if someone can help.

I can toss it get it to spin and whistle. My problem is that I cannot get a vertical landing, so it spins at an angle. I cannot get it vertical. The string it came with is 49 inches, maybe I need a longer one? Please help.

I have larger wooden tops that i can spin with no problems. Can't seem to master the Siren King though...

Any help would be great, thanks.

I have a couple of them and I can do a boomerang with them on standard string. The same string that comes with the Spintastic Gladiator. Also I take a long line with the Gladiator and do a double body cork screw. The Siren King is more for show. Shows what a top can't do.

Welcome to the forum, Tim!

The Siren King is a nice vintage top to have.
The length of the string needed depends on its thickness. But it's probably shorter than what you use with your standard tops.
The wrap should reach just above half-way between the tip and the widest section.

Right on, glad you have mastered the siren. Niw back to me; how can i throw the thing so it will land vertically? It keeps landing at 45 or so degrees regardless of my grip... what can i do?

Thanks for the info about the string. It is about halfway when wrapped. This one is frustrating. I have been throwing it for 2 days and can't get it to land vertically... 🤨

Can you upload a video (e.g., youtube). That would be very useful.
And we don't know how you throw your wooden tops.

Also you can turn your hand at different angles to control the position. For my big tops I throw with a curve where the top will come back in a vertical position == tip catch.

tim

Thanks for the information about hand angles. Sorry i have no video to show.
I throw the bigger wooden ones with a sidearm toss and my hand ends up empty and looking like im going for a handshake after the toss. The same throw will have the siren king land with a tilt.

The siren sound good but that landing is killing me.

Try turning your hand as you throw, so that it ends up palm facing down.

You can try to adjust the throw as indicated above. But even if you keep the same throw, there must be a length of string for which the top will end up vertically. Start with a longer string and wrap string around your fingers to shorten it until you find one that works.

tim

Thanks for the string shortening idea, I will give that a go.

Hey, thanks for all the help.
Shorter string did the trick! 👍🏻🙂
