Totaled
« on: May 24, 2018, 02:38:58 PM »

Sunday I was in a bad car accident. I was driving with my two sons when the car was hit on the right side at an intersection, spun 180 degrees and was hit again by a pickup truck going in the opposite direction. Pablo got the worst part, with a broken cheek bone (in four places) and a cut to the forehead. He will need surgery in a week, but now he is at home, doing well and in good spirits. All in all, it could have been much worse. Diego only got some abrasions to his face and nobody else was hurt.

My beloved red convertible was totaled, unfortunately. I was also moving my computer, server and printer, and all were destroyed. But compared to the health of family, that's nothing. I did go yesterday to the storage lot and unscrewed the "TOPS" license plates, the only thing I will keep.

Drive safely!

Oh my!!!  I was not expecting to read this when I opened this thread.  Sorry about poor Pablo.  Hope all goes well with his recovery and everyone else's mental recovery.  This sort of thing kind of hangs with you for a while.

I was also not expecting the finish to your story and the saving of your TOPS license plate.

Yes, I will keep this in mind when driving.  It is so weird how you have driven all around the world without incident and then have this in your hometown.

Glad to hear it wasn't any worse!  I hope your sons heal quickly and completely, without any problems.

I’m sorry to hear about your traffic accident. However, I have worked many traffic accidents and made numerous death notifications during the course of my career. Its a blessing that you and your family were able to go home.  My family will keep your family and Pablo in our prayers. We all hope for a speedy recovery.

I really sorry. At least, all of you are, finally, good, with some wounds, but, thinking it could be worst,  in general terms, are good.
I am glad that the three of you are alive and good.
My best wishes.

I've been thinking of Pablo.  How is he doing?  Has he had his surgery?  How old a young man is he?

I hate to hear about people being hurt, especially when things were beyond their control.  Tell him we wish him the best....

Thanks for your thoughts, mailman.
Today we had very good news: the surgeon said he will not need surgery after all!  :)  :)  :)

In other less important news, I found an identical car (same model, year and even color) and the insurance payment was close to what I needed.

Good news indeed!

Less important but still important in my book! I've been a convertible addict since my first one almost 20 years ago. My firm policy: The top's down unless it's actively precipitating and I can't go fast enough (~35 mph) to stay dry.

What kind of red convertible?
