In a quick search I found these references: (But, not to Billy actually playing Diablo himself).

Yes, the croquet picture was the closest I came to Billy enjoying some free time skill development.  I am sure he played cards and would spin them around the table on occasion, but I could not find any spinning diabolo activity.  What Larry D. found about Canyon Diablo and the Diablo Ballet may be some of what you heard, Ketzaltlipoka
