I am very happy that others are doing Wizard's Gyro. I can see that such a trick is right up your alley ;)  By the way, Diego told me it is cooler with the apostrophe "wizard's gyro" instead of just "wizard gyro".

You have tried it with more tops than I have. In principle it should work with any top but, yes, some will be more difficult to bewitch. With a heavy top like the QS you will have to pull a lot to make it reverse the precession. At the end of the video you can see the mark the string left on my thumb from pulling very hard. I believe (and the little testing I did seems to confirm it) that a thicker string will let you apply less force. Also, it is very critical that the string doesn't overlap on the tip in a way that cancels the torque. It is this torque that offsets the torque of gravity (that has a much longer lever).

I hope your are feeling better.

Sorry about your illness.  Hope you are feeling better very soon.

It is much warmer around these parts (southwest Ohio) than it was a couple weeks ago.  I'll bet even Jorge is warmer in San Antonio.  I'm not sure what it is like in Paris.
