Looks like there will be lots of possibilities for trompo+snow in the Denver area this weekend.  They are calling for one of the biggest snowstorms in years, perhaps decades!!!

Good luck with all of that, Jeremy.  Maybe you could come up with some fun whirling activity in all that white stuff?

I read where Denver airport had 24.1 inches of snow and they are calling it the 4th largest snowfall in the history of that city.  Hope you are ok, Jeremy!!!

Thanks for checking, Mike! We're fine. Will test some tops in the snow and report back. This morning from an upstairs window...

Probably got 1.5 ft at our house with drifts over 3 ft in places. Our street usually doesn't get plowed, and looks like no one's tried to drive on it yet. A little more snow coming after this lull.

I was here for Denver's all-time record, The Great Blizzard of 2003. Three feet in our yard then.

Spent this morning updating my Polar Expedition Vehicle, built ca. 2012...

Works well in most kinds of snow -- even deep powder -- thanks to all that track contact area. Hope to get some action video for YouTube tomorrow.

That's looks beautiful.

But if I don't see tops in the snow this may be NSTR material  ;)

OK, OK, tomorrow.

This may not be the best snow for top play. It isn't our usual fine, dry powder. It had a high water content and was already very close to melting when it fell. Refroze overnight, but the surface layer was already pretty slushy by late morning.

Demanded photos of tops in snow...

Total bust in this wet snow: Both tips sunk in immediately, and neither top went more than 3 s.

The worst part: The one the left made me yearn for a cheeseburger, but our neighborhood streets are still impassable.

Maybe I'll try again tomorrow morning with wide ball tips on a crust frozen overnight -- provided I can still find an intact flat surface.

Sorry about the results, but it was fun to imagine what you might come up with!!!

Nasty outside today -- more snow! But also more powdery. Maybe I'll try again tomorrow. I have some ideas...

You need a Zuguri koma Lego!

Agree. I have 16 mm tips with a very large radius of curvature to try. Minimizing weight on the tip and increasing ground clearance to allow for some tip sinkage should also help. But I think you mostly need the right snow.

Say, what kind of link did you ask for when you uploaded that photo to ibb? My photos are usually too big, and the "width=800 height=450" attributes don't seem to help.
