Hi Spinners!
Dale and I recently visited Cuper in Guadalajara, Mexico. Our intent for the trip was to find a new molder for our yo-yos and spin tops and also to see Lake Chapala, which we had heard so much about.
When we contacted Cuper to say that we were going to visit, he went all out to honor Dale for his lifetime contribution to spin tops, arrange for Dale and me to meet many, many spin top players, provided outlets for us to perform along with his team at a school and museum, as well as entertain us in royal fashion for the 3 days we spent with him. Jorge asked me to share a few photos of the experience, so here are a few of the many photos to highlight our spin top trip of a lifetime. (4 on each post) Thanks Cuper!
Photo 1: At an elementary school in Guadalajara.
Photo 2: Met with 2 members of Cuper's team. David (Cuper's son) and Calvin, who escorted us around.
Photo 3: Dale and me with Eduardo who was a Duncan demonstrator back in the 70's and was taught by Ken Filary (one of Dale's Duncan friends) and Fernando, an longtime friend and string manufacturer from Mexico City.
Photo 4: Dale and me with "Oliver", Trompo Cuper's new mascot, named in honor of us. Wow.
