Nice. But let's think BIG.

A shooter ~20% longer and taller is in the works, and that opens up many top design options. But I don't think that will be big enough for you.

Thanks, Iacopo! Given your fabrication skills, I can only imagine what a Simonelli top shooter might look like. But you'd be in for a lot more time, effort, and money than I had to put out.

Many of Cecil's tops have a Colombian style knob on the crown.
Cecil,  Get some 2x4s, and some long bungee cords. Let's see a top cannon not just a little 38 special!

That's true. At times I envy you a bit the versatility and ease of your Legos.

And I envy your beautifully finished art objects. Unfortunately, having it both ways is rarely if ever an option.

Currently on Ebay (auction) there is this advertisement card for a pistol spinning top from the 1880's:

The asking price: $1200 !!!!  :o :o :o

Actually, they have been trying to sell the card for years. The lowest I have seen them offer it for was in the $900s.
The actual metal Royal Top Spinning Pistol I saw on Ebay go for about the same price. I have seen pistol in Cyril's collection (I don't recall if we spun the top).
One neat thing about the card is that on the back it had heat activated ink (to show a hidden women) but unfortunately that doesn't seem to work anymore (the woman is somewhat visible all the time).

Cool top pistol, amazing prices. A LEGO version based on a wind-up motor wouldn't be too hard, and it wouldn't require a dedicated top. Added to to-do list.

All for the better, I'd say. Hidden women can be dangerous.

Mine does not have what looks like the original rubber band. That's neat!
I'm not familiar with those rubber bands, but I imagine they were not specially made for this toy. Or perhaps they were?  :-\
