Tandem Topping
« on: October 19, 2017, 01:27:04 AM »

My wife is getting interested in throwing top so we have been practicing together and she calls it tandem topping. We each throw a top and the other person catches it.
Here is a video of us tandem topping earlier this week.

Wonderful scene! I'm still way behind you two on the learning curve, and my success to screw-up ratio is much, much lower. Thanks for reminding me to have a sense of humor about it.

This is the potential that top spinning has over yoyos.  Teams in the juggling world is a highly respected category and they have fabulous shows and competitions.  I have been an advocate of "tandem topping" or "team topping" for years.

Good work!!!

excellent and fun activity !  ;D all the more as a couple ( ;) )
with my friend Lapin we used to do synchronised tricks
try a wrap around of two tops in a "merry go round" : not difficult and very flashy

keep it going !

Oh I feel so silly. When I have done tandem topping, we stood back to back. The turn around to catch your partner's top.  Your way you can see the top the whole time.  With a good long boomerang this could be done with 5 or more!  Well done!

Our screw up rate is also high.  We are only successful about 1 on 5 times, but it is fun and it is getting Rebecca excited about throwing tops, which is more important.

This sounds like fun, we need to get a little better before we can try this.  Rebecca is currently working on the merry go round trick, so maybe we can try this once she has mastered that trick.  Do you have a video of this to get an idea of how it is done?  Do you both use the same string or different strings?

I do not think there is a right or wrong way to do this.  Your way sounds more difficult, once we get better we may have to give it a try.  Kind of a half pirouette boomerang.
