elections in France
« on: April 22, 2017, 11:04:18 AM »

salut les potes !

tomorrow is the first round for the presidential elections >:D

like many of my fellow citizens , I've had hard times finding a suitable candidate
I tried the anagram of names to make " t o u p i e "
but no one qualified!
then I turned to more serious topics:
to stay in the E C that eliminates 8
to qualify an under 50 that eliminates 7
to support a de-penalisation of weed  that eliminates 6
after all these intellectual efforts, I took a nap   zzzzz
I drank a ristreto a nd suddeenly the solution came to my mind
it's an old saying from the village in corsica

"faute de grive on mange du merle"

donc I ' llvote for...
Mac Round

;)

PS:
 une grive = a thrush
un merle = a blackbird (less tasty)
"if you can't get a thrush , then you'll enjoy a blackbird"
(never tried to cook one !)

That's certainly encouraging, but Le Pen is still in the 2nd round. Don't forget: Every time Trump cleared one hurdle, conventional wisdom said he wouldn't clear the next. Now we're stuck with.... Well, I won't go into that here.

Sincerely hope that France doesn't follow suit.

The papers around here have been covering the election with news about it just about every days.

I didn't realize Le Pen is a woman.......Marine Le Pen.

A snap poll says Macron 62% and Le Pen 38%.

Front page of USA Today sports talks about how the French election results could impact their 2024 Olympics bid.  Big color picture of the Eiffel Tower with the article.
