Old plates
« on: April 06, 2017, 09:51:21 AM »

There are several antique plates/dishes on Ebay right now with spinning top designs. One thing that I found funny is that a common motive is a boy offering a spinning top to a girl.

The ones I know prefer roses, chocolate or diamonds  ;D

Roses? Chocolates? Diamonds? Perfume?

No, my friend, the fastest way to a girl's heart is the offer of cherished top. And the first girl was so taken by the gesture that she's about to give him her favorite giant chess piece in return. Straight out of Chekhov!

Oh, I see they're cousins. But surely not first cousins. That would just be creepy.
