Shuriken top + power tool
« on: March 19, 2017, 12:51:30 PM »

hi all
i found this superb "maillet" today at a street market in Montparnasse

then on the way back I fell in love with this metal scale
it's made of a big latle sliding on a stand : it weights perfectly from 0 to 200 grams
and to finish there was a kid with cds and toys: i gave him a fiver for his shuriken top(the same as the one ludo brought back from china last week!)

if one of you ever comes to Panam
i 'll take you to one of these antique markets:
you never know what's going to show up, it's like a bridge hand:
whatever comes, you have to bid !
and  it's fun at a cheap rate!:)

I like the scale.   How do you see when the rocker arm is level, is there a needle or you check it by eye ?

I like the scale, too -- very elegant design.

no it's just like a roman scale:
you move the handle to adjust the weight, then you read on the marks.. it has got the grams and the oz

Jim: if you want it to remain in the top section you need to put more emphasis on the shuriken top  :P By the way, is it really meant to be a top? Can we see another view?

I do love both the mallet and the scale. Is "Panam" a nick name for Montparnasse?

What kind of spin times from the top, jim? Guessing only a few seconds, as I see lots of drag and not much axial moment of inertia here.
