GOOD RUNS for a toy aimed at beginners !!
I mean , the skills needed to perform what you show on the vid are really difficult:the top in clockwise spin , the off string catches, the transfers....

the bearings seem very noisy : what type ? "C" bearings?

thanx for the vid (except for the lousy mosik  :(  )

It seems that they are type A yo-yo bearings (5 mm ID, 10 mm OD, 4mm H). To access the bearing on the bottom tip, I just pull the tip out with a steady force. DON'T DO IT!
Now, "all the king's horses and all the king's men cannot put it together again."  :(

The tip is held on the top by an O-ring that sits on a grove on the shaft. In the relaxed state the O-ring has an inner diameter of just 2mm while the shaft is 5mm. I will have to make myself a tool to put back the O-ring. Dale's method of the straw won't be enough.

Very interesting.  Nice video.  It's thought provoking.
So, how do you think this would be received if it was used in a top spinning freestyle at worlds?
Thanks!
I think the 5-A yo-yo players would be very interested in that freestyle. If you can have a continuous routine it would score high. but this top is not good enough for competing.

I think you just need to pull the bearing from the plastic tip, put it on the axle, put the o-ring back in place and then put the tip back on.

You are right! It was pretty easy to do :)  You have to push hard to get the bearing out of the plastic tip: I used the head of a 4-40 machine screw.

Here is a video. This was fun!

Now, that's how it's done!

Awesome string skills + Yoyo Empire Spintop (YES) = amazing spintoy going beyond the sum of top and yoyo. And you did it all with the bundled string! Thanks for showing us how to use it.

The YES is one of my favorite spintoys ever. Lacking in string skills, I recently developed some LEGO starters for my YES and several peg tops. Best undisturbed table spin times with best LEGO (wind-up) starter = 210 s for YES, 150 s for Relampago 3-inch.

By comparison, best undisturbed table spin time with the toy gyroscope-style YES ripcord start shown at 0:38 in ta0's demo = 240 s. That's 30 s longer, but the LEGO starter still delivers enough angular momentum for some interesting play. Video coming soon.

Tons of fun! And not just with string play (stay tuned).

Believe I saw current offerings when I googled "Yoyo Empire Spintop" and "Yoyo Empire" just yesterday. Very happy with the online Czech store where I got mine maybe a year ago.
