mike , chris , you will be disappointed anyway with the movie

it's like the tv series "Lost" you know the island etc ....

a lot of entertaining action, very little content, nothing like reading P K Dick or Theodore Sturgeon or Neal Stephenson (snow crash for axample on the same theme)

I finally saw Inception. I liked it. Perhaps there was too much shooting for my taste. But the plot stayed pretty consistent among the many twists and levels of logical complexity and made me keep the attention throughout the whole 2:30 hours.  I would say it is a great "spinning top" movie.

When we came back home I told my wife we needed to spin a finger top and verify we were not dreaming (inside a dream the Inception top does not stop.) She was not very enthusiastic but agreed. Of course, the top I chose was the ultra long-spin Quark: ". . . Is it going to stop???"

Glad you liked the movie.  If there is a lot of shooting I may not be comfortable.  Violence bothers me more and more as I age.

I liked it very much.  I often get "lost" in convoluted plots, but I managed to keep up in this one.  I was caught off guard at the end when they all appeared back on the plane however!

I had to look for a bit 'til I found this.  Anyway, USA Today newspaper had a special 2010 in review page of the movies.  Guess what was selected as the "brainy film of the year"?

"Give audiences credit.  They made Christopher Nolan's mind bending Inception the fifth highest grossing movie of the year."

Interestingly enough, I have not seen the movie.  I started this thread and have not seen the movie.  Go figure.  I  keep hearing how intense it is and how it is a science fiction flick.  Neither one of these things interests me.  I already have too many nightmares about real life as a pastor.

Maybe I will see it when it comes out on DVD and I can watch bits and pieces of it so I can control the intensity?

hi all

this morning I arrived at school and found a copy of the fanzine the students publish once in a while

what do I see ? a spinning top on the cover page!!

it was in fact going with a very brainy article about dreams,pre-lucid dreams etc... the spintop  which keeps spinning, being in the movie, a "test of reality"

a small input but it did make my day

Shock!  Inception is in the news again.  The USA Today article has this headline..."What Mom Thinks of Inception".  The small article is in their top picks section (web to watch) and it has a picture with the following caption "There's a whole new take on the new sci-fi thriller".

Here is the article.  "Christopher Nolan's Inception made more than $290 million at the box office, but Joe Nicolosi's 66 year old mother doesn't get the hype.  Nicolosi watched the multiple reality thriller with his mother and recorded her reactions.  Let's hope she likes Nolan's upcoming movie Interstellar a little more."
