Happy New Year everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!
« on: December 30, 2009, 06:30:01 PM »

Wanted to say this tonight because I leave early tomorrow to do 4 shows at First Night Dover DE.  http://www.firstnightdover.com  and check page 9 of the program.  Anyone else doing paid gigs for New Years Eve?  Jim?  Hayward?

By the way Mark do you have the picture of my top Button?

Among many outstanding performers in the program your copy is one of the few that has a box around: you must be considered a big draw! Congrats and happy new year!

That's terrific, Dick.  Hope you have a great night.  I had a run of New Year programs for a while but things have really slowed down for me since the economy changed.

Hope everyone has a great new year.  Can't believe it is almost 2010!!!

Guess what I just heard?  Up in Traverse City, Michigan they had a giant cherry drop for the New Year!  Can you guess what I'm thinking?

That's right.  Next year we need to have a giant top drop on New Year's Eve!
Maybe tops dropping from all around the world as the New Year comes in the different time zones?

An article in USA Today brought back memories of this thread.  The article talks about five surprising drops scheduled for New Year's Eve 2019.
1) flea drop in Eastover, North Carolina
2) iceberg lettuce drop in Yuma, Arizona
3) sartori big cheese drop in Plymouth, Wisconsin
4) the great pinecone drop in Flagstaff, Arizona
5) PEEPS chick drop in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania

Sure seems like we should have a top drop.  Maybe lots of top drops all over the world?

Q1: Is there a throwing top trick with a slow, controlled descent of a vertical string at some point?

Q2: Would that count as a top drop?

It would be easy to reverse the crane trick:

Happy New Year and a top 2020!
