I saw this good man " Rev Roly Bain" in Shrewsbury Abbey ,Shropshire (England) in the 1990ties
it was  during an office after we had done the "brother CadfaĆ«l" walk ..
( an imaginary character in the novels by Ellis Peters..////

he was a performer and a priest..://
his favourite line was "we are all fools for christ's sake!"

obituary in the British press

Wow!  You saw him.  That is pretty neat.

How sad to see he was only 62.  I did a lot of clown ministry work in the 1980's at one congregation but then continued some of it, only without makeup!  Clowning got me into juggling and unicycling (but not top spinning).

I found it interesting that he was a triplet and that he custard pied 10 bishops and most were grateful!  My bishop would not be very grateful.

It is nice to read of one who represents the good side of clowns.  So much in the US is negative about them right now.  Movies have made young ones scared of people who put on white makeup and a red nose.  I even read somewhere where everyone is encouraged not to dress up as clowns for holloween.

Thanks for sharing the posts about a good man and a great clown.
