I was printing this and noticed the lumpy finish. At first I thought it was a clogged nozzle but after some consideration decided it could be overextrusion or to low retraction. Since the lumpyness was consistent I figured it was over extrusion. I was able to change the extrusion rate to 95% mid print. I waited a while to see if it was enough to solve the issue. The image shows the dramatic surface finish improvement.

Here is a similar top launcher. Note the top is square, because it's a dreidel.

Fantastic!  8)

No doubt 3D printing is a revolution!
The pin that holds the rubber band to the top on my vintage Whirl a Top broke some time ago. It can still be used (the rubber band wrapping over itself stays put) but it's not the same. With 3D printers if something breaks you just print it again!

I have a few tops available if any one is interested. The 3.5" is special. The only one I have made with 3 colors. Pretty awesome I think. The white one Is glow in the dark ABS. All have the acetone treatment.
The 3" models are PETG. Red and purple are the two colors I have in those.
PM me if your interested.

Love the tri-color, Jose, and I'm eager to see you play the white one in the dark.

Hi Jeremy,
I am excited with the multi color. I hope to make more in the future but they are tougher.
I do need to make another video.

I'm the happy owner of one of these 3.5 tops JMadrigal signed, and all I can say, it's that is now my favorite top ever!
Of course S8 and quicksilver are good top, specially for fast combined tricks, but this format is much more enjoyable for everyday play, I can actually do all of the tricks I know with it, of course with some limitations, like a staircase to heaven is done with less turns, soma dvantages also on aerial tricks, with a bigger tip, it's easier to catch...
In conclusion I would say: thes are just amazing tops!

I have a new years gift for all aspiring printers out there.
I have had a few request for a top file to help new printers get started. I uploaded a file to Thiniverse today. Here is the link.

Feel free to ask questions for those wanting to give it a try.
Happy Printing

It should work this afternoon. I think it makes you wait 24 hours before it goes live. Let me know if you have issues later.
