I had this issue and always remembered this painting. It really looks like she did her research to get the profile of the top just right. And thanks ta0 for helping me get the image in the post. I couldn't figure out how to do that from the Google books page.

Thanks for posting that story, Diz .

The drawing is very nice, with a realistic top. I am not sure if I recognize the top: the crown is unusual. But at least the rest was copied from an actual top.

The story is not by any stretch one of Asimov's best, but the ending is funny.  ;D Reminded me this: link.

Funny that you should refer me to that link. Although I did not work on the Triceratop Spin I was one of the designers on the two attractions on either side of it. So there is a coincidence there of sorts! :)

This is exactly how it unfolded:

The man is barely breathing, but he tries to say something:
"The . . .  errgh . . . diamond . . . is . . . oh no . . . I am dying . . . sorry . . . e-e-erh . . . "
Seemingly unable to speak, he stretched his hand and wrote on the grown using his own blood: S-P-I-N
but he lacked strength to continue. The woman put his ear close to his mouth and could barely hear him say:
" . . . ooh . . . Sarah's . . . top . . . oorrgh"
exhaling his last breath and dying with the eyes wide open.

The guy had an accent, so Ceratosaurus would have sounded like Sarah-to-Sarah's  ;)

Bigger than T-Rex, could have eaten a Triceratops! And spintop related name!

I was sure that Jack's googling prowess was going to solve this in no time . . .
I'll give you a few more hours before revealing the solution (and unleashing on the forum what was perhaps the biggest top predator ever!  >:D )
