dude! No love for the Love?? I love The Love! And you're not gonna say anything about sofia?
No love for the Love here, sorry.  :(
But I do love the Sofia.  :-* If you are both a player and a collector, the Sofia is probably the best choice because the shape is unique and once it is discontinued there might never be another top of that shape (specially one that plays so well). But if you are just a player, it does not play better than the Giulia and it is more expensive.

I enjoy the Love top. I  do find the string to be short, so I simply use another string for certain tricks(mostly corkscrew based on what I can do). It's a difficult little top to master, fun to play.

As far as the Sophia, it's one of my favorite tops and I'm glad I have 2 of them and once the funds are available, I wouldn't mind getting another two if they are available at that time. As far as playing better than the Guilia, all I can say is that I like it better than the Guilia. I think the way it's weighted works better for me. If YoYoSam didn't run out of them, they had been selling for cheaper than the Guilia. I think they were trying to get rid of them since they aren't an item that moves as quick as other stuff.

I do agree that it seems the Guila seems to the "standard" for competition as I see so many people using it. Either way, Guila or Sophia, these are both fantastic tops. Really, can't go wrong either way.

Anybody gonna mention the spin killing waistline on sofia? I mean I love it too, but it's got a more pronounced version of the ridges on at least two of my hollowpoints where the ridge lands at an angle on the string where it balances and the spin dies.
like I always say:dead monkeys don't fly on sticks.

ryan paul,
I do want to congratulate and encourage you.  Lots of folks that get an inferior item, then lose heart and quit.  Clearly, you have pushed through and desire to move on. Keep going.  There are folks here that are trailblazing and are also behind you.
