Really enjoying these lamp-part tops of yours, Jack. Kinda like LEGO tops, only stronger and heavier. Your skills are amazing!

Jack: The following chonkake video may be new to the forum. Pretty amazing -- especially the very high toss at the end.

For someone with your acrobatic skills, what are the pros and cons of the chonkake rotor shape versus the taller and more conical traditional spintop shape?

mmm indeed that video is delicious @-@

pros would be: slower preccesion, packs flatter for carrying, makes one feel hella japanesie, really gives you a workout because of the weight, they can be made from nearly any lamp @-@
cons would be: relatively limited trick options, if a chonkake falls it wiiiiiiillllll run and you wiiiiiiillllll cry......and hope to god it doesnt break a wondow or hit a car alarms alarms alarms @-@, again workout which is meh and i do not appreciate the meh but i do tolerate the meh

i wish i had a mini which i think would be epic, ill probably need to make it myself because i dont think it exists  >:(
thank you sir for your recognition of my skillz  8)

The flatter shape puts the string nearer the center of gravity.  As Jack mentioned, if all else is equal the preccesion will be slower.  This is both an advantage and a disadvantage.  The slower preccesion makes regeneration tricks easier.  It also make the top slow to change the direction of the axis so those kinds of tricks are harder.  As mentioned in another thread, the chonkake gave me the breakthrough I needed to be able to learn regeneration.
