@yophosis: Try Mo. He is a good modder. He also has the right tools for the job to make sure the end result is turned concentrically to .001 or so. Another thought. You can fill the grooves with a metal epoxy and then sand down by hand.

Thanks for the tips... I haven't talked to Mo OR worked with bondo since last Millennium.

I have been wanting a Gates top for five years and I still have never gotten one! Man, yoyojam needs to remake...

The Gates and Top Dog are amazing I wish they would remake both, they just need to do a different tip setup and maybe a better plastic.

For this one i will make a delrin tip... anyway after a throw i can agree, the Top Dog is a very good top, i like it a lot.

also, a pretty smart feller had the idea to try compressed air... haven't tried it but interested if it would do the trick.

A top dog I would not open. It will practically be impossible to put back together again. If you want to see the innards, check this post:
