some internet searches using the word "whirled"
« on: July 27, 2015, 12:36:24 PM »

It seems like I have searched the internet using so many different combinations of tops, top spinning, trompo, throwing tops etc.  Just the other day I happened to use different combinations of the world "whirl" and found some different videos I haven't seen......like this luminous spring bouncing spinning top:

Well, this doesn't have anything to do with top spinning but it came up with the word whirled.  It is called "whirled beat" and it is amazing......too amazing to not include it with this search!

They call this a magnetic top:

We have discussed before (link) a similar one with lights (Gyro-Wheel):

It is a variation on the classical Whee-lo.  If you release the wheel from the track it becomes a real spinning top.

I have it, but I cannot do close to the same tricks that Jason does on the video on that thread.

I left the origami video playing while I was doing other stuff. He got a relatively good spinning finger top (for an origami) but the folding seemed pretty complicated.
Not bad to make a top for $1. But if I made one I suspect that it would end up looking like a 10-cents top!  ::) Or I would have to spend at least $10 to get that one-dollar-bill top!  ;)

Congrats on the origami top, Jack! It looks pretty good: I'd say at least one (Canadian) dollar worth.  :)
