I don't know the name of the trick, but I learned it from this video by Spin Queen...  (0.57)

I find it easiest on, of all things, a P213.

Gerardo does a three-way-whatever-it-is in this video (first trick)

ah... the old - three way whatever it is - trick.
i got it now, everything except the part after the boomerang.
i need aerial photos w/circles and arrows pointing to the way things go!
thanks for the references though, i will watch that and try to learn.
fixed tip really is hardcore. i think i need a nerf top so i don't knock my teeth out.

In the following video starting at 1:50 Alan Grimberg and SpinQueen show better closeups which allow you to track where the string goes in the wire walker variation (perhaps a reasonable name could be "walk about" per Crocodile Dundee for this type of trick where the top goes around obstacles).  The unexpected launch is great and suggests the need for a mouth guard and safety glasses just like for corkscrew training.

I don't know the name they use in Colombia and Mexico for the around the finger wirewalker. I think SQ once called it Mexican Wirewalker  ;) It is probably a pretty old trick and I wouldn't be surprised if it had been done in the US at one time.

Now, the back-and-forth version was invented by Gerardo Montero who named it "El Mejor Truco" = "The Best Trick". Gerardo told me so and Gustavo Castro confirmed it. When I visited Pulp he showed me how to do it but I haven't practiced  :(

Yep, I call that trick Mexican Wirewalker because Alan Grimberg (who's from Mexico but you would never know it from his name ;), taught it to me.  All my kids at the school also know that trick as "Mexican Wirewalker"  It's a fun and easy trick to do and looks impressive to those watching.  Jon Gates taught me the Wirewalker around my neck, but now that my hair's longer, the top gets tangled :(  so I've taken to walking the top behind my head to add a little flair to the basic WW.

thank you all for the links. in the (very cool) video with alan i think i can follow the
string path, and it's thanksgiving so i have a day off to practice it (happy thanksgiving everyone!)
it is funny to me that alan grimberg is demonstrating that trick because last week i
learned his yo-yo trick, mexican duck pond, from another duncan 80th vid.
i had never heard of him before and now he is helping me with another trick.

I've adopted the "Mexican Wirewalker" name for this one as well--after all I did learn it from the Queen's video... :)
