Spinning in Yucatan
« on: July 01, 2015, 01:16:43 PM »

Last week I vacationed with my family close to Playa del Carmen in Yucatan, Mexico. Fernando Turegano who lives an hour away in Cancun came by for a visit. Unfortunately, because of the family plans we could only meet for less than 2 hours. But we did have the chance to throw a bit together:

We did some roller-coaster passes. I am glad I had talc with me as the humidity was around 100% (but not as hot as back home).

I had taken Figaro (he should get a passport!) for the occasion, so Fernando is the latest inductee to the Figaro Gallery of Top Players .

He is player number 114 on the gallery. Are you already on it?  ;)

Fernando recounted very fast the modern history of trompos in Mexico, of which he has direct knowledge as he has worked for many of the companies during the last 20 years. He started with tops as a kid, competing against Gus  :)

Unfortunately his son could not make it the day we met.
Many thanks to Fernando for taking the trouble to come to see me and for all the presents he gave me, including a shark whale painting he made and several Mexican tops.
