I saw a new way of placing a top in a youngsters hand there too.
Funny, I have never done that before that time.
I will pass on the compliments to the girls that did the video.

Good luck with the camp! If you print flyers and there is a left over (after Mike gets one for the Hall of Fame), save it for my collection, please.
I never dreamed we were creating collectables :)

Good luck Kirk!  Looks like a fun day ahead.  Wish we were closer...

I know it's pretty close to the action now, but if you'd like a suggestion for the future, perhaps a string making demonstration would be on topic and appropriate for the attendees.  My kids sure get a kick out of watching the colorful strands come together.  :)

Cheers!

String making.....so fascinating!  I love it.

I also love that I am packed and ready to go.  Too much stuff in the car but it will be a fun trip.  I decided to start later today after I did some chores around the house (gotta keep the better half happy) and after I was able to get some animal balloons at the party store.  I am now looking for fun along the way!!!

The only bad news right now is that the local weather report says rain all three days.

I made it to Smyrna!!!  It is great to be here.  It is a little late (12:45) but the last few hours were very exciting listening to the Cleveland Cavaliers pull out a big win in the NBA championships!

I am off to find Chuck Camp Park and then a place to sleep.

It was hard to sleep after the Cavs victory last night.  I bet Cleveland was going crazy.

Since I could not sleep I went to the park and checked it out.  Then I grabbed some chalk and made a big promo on some angled cement for TROMPO CAMP - muy bien - loco como trompo with some appropriate tops spinning around.

I am a little confused about where it will be held.  There is a shelter area that looks like a gazebo and there is also a covered area right next to the children's jungle gym area.  That is the question I will deal with after some food and a shower.  Then I will be ready for some loco como trompo!

How can an outdoor event start off with a big 30 minute rainstorm and be a success?  I don't know.  I am still trying to figure it out.  Somehow, some way Kirk did it!  I counted over 30 throwers.  He started with 50 tops and ended with 18.  The place was hopping!!!

That's great news!  Glad to hear the rain didn't scare folks away.  Did you get some pictures?

I'm just finding out about this? Neat! I'll have to see if I can get there one night but I'm usually not off work that early.  :(

We had a great time. We were so honored to have the famous Earl of Whirl and the Hickerson family as guests.  Too tired to process photos.  Resting up for more spinning tomorrow.

Eli, Austen and I finally made it back home from Trompo Camp. We had a Great Time spinning tops and meeting a lot of new people. We also saw some of the Earl of Whirl's spintop creations that he made with his new lathe. We had Kids, Snacks and Spintops and an all around good time. Kirk & Rachel are doing a good job teaching spintop play to the young people at Trompo Camp.
