He is a very smooth player.  The "snap" start seems to have a few wraps around the top, but not in a way I have ever seen.  I guess the first moves would be called sewing machines in the USA.  I noticed that he moves his left hand directly over the top during the catch. This seems much better than what I have been trying.
The later tricks would make me very dizzy!

He is very good.

We have seen a few other videos showing that technique, but they are not easy to find.

well.... call it snap start if you wish
to me it's more a wrap around start , like you do on one sided diabolos
you wrap twice for fiction and like this man does , you give it a little spin

salut jim! now that youve pointed that out i think your right it is more of wraparound start, i wonder if it could be done with ur style of top  ???

I have seen Daveid do what he called a "roll start" with a larger top last time he was in Miamisburg.  by my memory it was sort of similar. I don't know if there is a video of it.
