I saw some Mike Durdak videos.  Good work!  I am excited to see you with spin tops.

I also saw the website for the world yoyo championships in Tokyo.  Looks like plans are already there for one minute prelims in spin tops.  That sounds like there will be a lot of competitors!!!
As of 7/30 Mike was registered only on 4A, so I guess he registered for tops the 31st.
The prelims were scheduled before registration started. I doubt there will be a need for them.

How many top related people do you recognize in this screen capture?:

Nine days left for the start of the festivities!  :)

 i count 6 @-@

also whoever can manage to get me an autograph from that woman on any damned thing from toilet paper to king tuts crown i will send thee 3 top toques (and perhaps bonus content  :o) as ransom @-@

I don't know who is your six one, but Ann is definitely one of them as the daughter of Tom (yothomas), the owner of several big tops and multiple times spintop freestyler.

They put the picture of a top because they felt some yo-yo players may not know what a spintop is  ::)

Taka (Takahiko Hasegawa) is mainly a famous yo-yo player. He learned the basics of spintops around 2000 (encouraged by Dale, I bet) and has shown some interest over the years. Now that he was hired by a Chinese company to promote spintops he must be playing a lot more. The last couple of years he has been learning koma from the Nagoya group.

Corkscrew Challenge
« Reply #83 on: August 08, 2015, 01:41:22 PM »

Tyler offered to send me the Corkscrew Challenge trophy to take to Tokyo. But I don't see the challenge happening over there. I think that this year nats would be a better place to have it. However, if there is a group that wants to do it in Tokyo (fixed tip perhaps?), we can still have it, and I can ship to the trophy to the winner.

I am leaving Tuesday morning (and arriving Wednesday, Japan's time). Almost there: cannot believe it!  :o

Time is getting close and we are all excited for you and everyone going to Tokyo.  Hope your travels go smoothly and we are anxious to hear about how it all goes.  I will be on vacation in Gatlinburg, Tennessee (probably not much spinning action there) and ready to read any top spinning news available!!!

Dale and Val are already traveling and will be there tomorrow.

I will not sleep much tonight, in part to prepare for the jet lag but also because I still need to finish preparing the luggage and the tops. If I have time I will attach one of the new ITSA patches to a shirt. Tomorrow, early flight to Chicago, over 12-hour-long flight to Tokyo, 90 minutes by 2 trains from Narita to the hotel: I should be pretty exhausted Wednesday night. Hopefully by Saturday I would have rested enough to hit a top with the string  ::)

Could the nine ball represent a nine hour flight that awaits you?
