Happy Thanksgiving Richy, and Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

We host tomorrow, and it will be great fun having my grandnephew over.
I can’t wait to see his eyes light up when I give him the Toycrafter goodies I got from Don while at RIT.
Spinning is definitely on the menu.  :)

Have a HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

do you know about this cyber Monday ? is it popular ?
Yes, the vast majority of online shops have big offers on Monday.
In practice, black Friday and cyber Monday offers spill into the surrounding days (lots of black weeks).

PS: or a peaceful National Day of Mourning for some Native Americans.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone

My newspaper this morning weighed 4 pounds, the paper told me.  3.8 pounds of it were Black Friday Sales.

That’s really interesting Rick.
That was our situation yesterday with the newspaper.  It must be regional.
Today our newspaper is pretty sparse.

We had a giant paper here in the Dayton area, too.  That 4.0/3.8 ratio sounds about right for my Dayton Daily News.

Some good news for Thanksgiving in our area was that we served over 300 meals at the Thanksgiving dinner at our church.  The place was really hopping!  And one of those meals went to a guy from Indianapolis who comes every year with a sack full of obscure tops he finds at yard sales, antique malls and flea markets.  This year he not only brought me a sack of goodies but also six pieces of wood for me to turn!  What a good guy!!!

Jim, Interesting that this year the Charities decided to have "Giving Tuesday" just in time for my birthday.  ;D ;D

A late Happy Thanksgiving to all
with tops spinning if there are conditions ...
This Thanksgiving Holiday, I finally got consistent with the Gyro Flop.  Thanks Eli for the coaching while in Ohio in August.

this morning one of my students asked : but what is  black friday?
The name "Black Friday" is from the color of ink in a store ledger. (red ink used for negative balances) Many stores would just get by during the year and the Christmas gift surge in sales would be the profitable time of year.
In days of old the Christmas shopping time began the Friday after Thanksgiving.  This was the day that stores would reveal their Christmas wares, set up elaborate window displays and have special promotions.
The term "Black Friday" was not used outside of business circles until the last few decades.  The extreme frenzy seems to be bigger in the last 10 or so years.

Hope everyone had a good thanksgiving.  My top angel showed up at our big meal again this year with a small box of goodies.  I will try to make a post about them here soon!

After a 40 day delay at customs, I received a set of Indonesian Tombok gasings on Tuesday. So on Thanksgiving Day I had my first ever successful throws with these 2kg beauties. I was in thanksgiving mood!  :D :D :D
