Hi All. Val here. I realize I haven't been a part of this, but I've read through all of your comments. Glad everyone cares so much.
My opinion is this. ITSA has a long history. Is there really any REASON to change it? That's the first question I have.
Acronyms are great and fun and all, but can be confusing. My dad always told me to name your company or whatever you do something that tells people what it IS that you are involved with, i.e. you don't call yourself "ABC Company," you should call yourself "ABC Plumbing" etc. (Or for example, my previous company was Krantz Computer Services and now is Spintastics Skill Toys.) International Top Spinners Association does just that. It says that we are an international association of top spinners. However, ITSA, if it were on shirts or something by itself is not clear, so adding TOPS seems to be a fine addition, as in "TOPS: International Top Spinners Association"...but I don't think it's at all necessary to pull out the "TOP S" from the words International TOP Spinners Association. That seems totally unnecessary.
