A group from Disney Research in Zurich developed a software to balance weird shaped spintops made with 3D printers.



They presented the paper last month at SIGGRAPH 2014. You can download it from here: www.disneyresearch.com/project/spin-it/

I had planned to one day make finger tops shaped as 3D bananas, but they have probably already beat me

These spinning objects should be at the next International Yo Yo competition on Disney Boardwalk.  This would be a lot of fun for the participants at the House of Blues.

Thanks Tao, I was thinking today about adding weight to the Koma, and I thought why not take the weight of the other side. Drill a hole and plug the top of it.

Seems like some of this looks a little familiar.  Yet, there seems to be more detail and more spinning objects than what I remember.  Thanks for finding this "further development" in this amazing process.
