I was outside mowing and doing some other yard work and ran across some finger spinners and crushed pieces from the night of wild topiata.  This makes two years in a row where that activity is the gift that keeps on giving!  Such good memories.  Many thanks to all who came and helped support this event in one way or another.

There are a few things I still have to wrap up before giving this thread a rest.  Yes, ta0, I did receive your items from worlds 2014.  Thanks for the piece of mirror and the battle top area (I think it is a broken water holder that goes under vases).  I appreciate the connections to the great Prague event.

I have so many dreams for the Hall of Fame and Topland.  The cool thing is that others are sharing my hopes and dreams.  Many thanks to the many who have helped make this such a special place for top spinners.  The rest of the world doesn't get it.  Yet, for one night a year this is a hopping place because of the stories and the exchange of ideas and dreams.  I could not ask for anything better!

I ran across this article about our event.  They did a nice job writing it and including all kinds of good information.  The sad news is that I don't think it brought any people to our festival.  I have contacted the city about the possibility of moving to a big stage in the middle of the car show for next year.  That could give us a lot of nice exposure and more participants.

Anyway, here is the link to that article.  How many top spinners names do you recognize?

I was born in Dayton, Ohio, in 1952.  Moved to upstate New York at 11 years of age but still have many Ohio cousins from Akron to Cincinnati. I will do my best to try to make it to the Miamisburg Fest August 22, 2015. I have never met more than one other top-spinner at a time, ever!  Have corresponded with some of you but don't think I have met any of you other than Byron who came over here to help with witnessing the first giant top spin attempt.

Wow! Maybe next year is the time for me to go back to Miamisburg! Although my preference is to meet you one day in the Philippines and see the giant top in person!  ;)

Mike, you mentioned watching the old Schreiber movie.  It has been a while since I last watched it but doesn't he try to balance a wobbly top on a pie pan? I have the very pie pan he used for many years in his show.  He gave it to me on my third and final visit to see him in the spring of 1990 when he was 85 years old.  He was still a little frustrated with me that I still hadn't learned regeneration!  But he gave me the pie pan as a memento and the Chinese diabolo I use in the videos for the sound effect.  I will be pleased to present you the pie pan for your hall of fame if I can make it to the fest next year.

I am stunned!

I am also deeply moved!!!

Yes, I know that beat up old pie pan very well from the movie.  We showed the movie at the last Miamisburg fest as we all cooled down in my office.  For top spinners, the movie is a classic.  I can't tell you how many times I have showed that to Sunday School classes.  Many thanks go to Don Olney for getting me a copy of it.

The pie pan?  In Miamisburg?  Wow!!!
